1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Glyo iOS app, the getglyo.app website, and support communications. In this policy, “Glyo,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of the Glyo service.
Glyo is a logging and organization tool. It is not a medical device, emergency service, or substitute for professional medical advice.
2. Information Glyo handles
Information stored on your iPhone
Your profile preferences, diabetes type, display name, routine settings, conversation history, saved photos, attachments, and logs are stored locally on your iPhone. You can use manual logging while offline. Deleting local data in Glyo removes the current local space, including unsynced changes.
Account and cloud sync
Sign in with Apple is optional. Glyo uses the Apple account identifier needed to establish your account and does not require your name or email address from Apple. Authentication records, encrypted session credentials, subscription status, and security metadata are processed to operate your account.
If you turn on cloud sync, Glyo uploads your confirmed structured entries and sync metadata to your private account. This can include glucose readings, insulin entries, meals, activity, symptoms, medication logs, notes, timestamps, nutrition details, injection locations, and source details for imported Apple Health entries. Photos, conversation history, and profile preferences are not currently included in cloud sync.
Smart logging and photo interpretation
If you enable smart logging, the text or voice transcript you submit is sent through Glyo’s processing service to OpenAI so Glyo can propose editable entries. If you choose “Interpret photo,” a compressed copy of that photo and available on-device text recognition may also be sent. The request can contain sensitive health information. Your full journal is not sent.
Glyo does not retain uploaded interpretation photos in its cloud database. Glyo requests that model responses are not stored for product features, but processing providers may retain limited information under their own security and abuse-prevention rules. Photos you save with entries remain on your iPhone.
Voice, camera, photos, and calendar
- Voice recognition requires the microphone and uses on-device speech recognition. Glyo sends the resulting transcript online only when you choose an online smart-logging action.
- Camera and photo-library access are used only for images you choose to capture or select. Saved images remain on your iPhone unless you explicitly submit one for interpretation.
- Calendar access is used only to add care events or reminders you choose. Glyo does not upload your calendar contents.
Apple Health
Apple Health connection is optional and read-only. Glyo requests only the categories you choose from blood glucose, insulin delivery, and workouts. Imported records are stored locally as Glyo entries. If cloud sync is enabled, those structured imported entries can sync to your private account. Glyo does not write to Apple Health, sell Apple Health information, or use it for advertising.
Food reference searches
If you search for nutrition information, the food description you enter is sent through Glyo to USDA FoodData Central. Glyo does not send your full journal with a food search.
Purchases
Apple processes App Store purchases. Glyo receives limited product, transaction, entitlement, and expiration information needed to unlock and restore your subscription. Glyo does not receive your full payment-card details.
Website and support
If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you include. The website does not currently use advertising trackers or product analytics. Hosting and font providers may receive standard technical request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and request time for delivery and security.
3. Your choices and permissions
- Use Glyo locally without signing in or enabling cloud sync.
- Use typed and manual logging if you do not want to use the microphone or smart logging.
- Turn smart logging, cloud sync, and Apple Health connection on or off from Glyo’s Profile screens.
- Change microphone, speech, camera, photo, calendar, and Apple Health permissions in iOS Settings or the Health app.
- Review and edit every proposed smart-logging entry before saving.
- Delete individual entries, delete local data, or delete your Glyo account.
5. Retention and deletion
- Local information: remains on your iPhone until you delete entries, delete local data, or remove the app. Removing the app can remove local data that has not been synced.
- Cloud entries: remain while your account is active. Deleted-entry sync metadata may remain as needed to prevent an entry from reappearing on another device.
- Account deletion: deactivates the account, removes cloud entries, sessions, subscription links, and account records, and asks Apple to revoke the related sign-in authorization. Limited anti-replay and deletion-status records may remain for up to 31 days.
- Support messages: are retained as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
- Provider records: may remain for limited periods in security logs or backups under provider retention rules.
To delete your account, open Glyo and go to Profile → Account → Delete account. Account deletion continues even if Glyo is closed. For help, see the account deletion instructions or email support.
6. Security
Glyo uses device protections, authenticated requests, encrypted transport, access controls, session rotation, and account-scoped cloud operations. No security method is perfect, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Contact us promptly if you believe your account or information is at risk.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about how your personal information is used. You may also withdraw consent for optional processing by disabling the relevant feature.
Email support@getglyo.app with “Privacy request” in the subject. We may need to verify that the request belongs to you. You may also have the right to contact your local privacy regulator.
8. Children
Glyo is not directed to children under 13. A minor should use Glyo only with the involvement of a parent or guardian and their care team where appropriate. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review and delete it.
9. International processing
Glyo and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Privacy laws may differ across countries. We use service providers and safeguards appropriate to the services being delivered.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Glyo changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through the app, website, or another appropriate channel.
